     The Fruit Bowl is a family owned and operated retail store on St Thomas, US Virgin Islands. We specialize in fresh fruit and vegetables from around the world.  In addition, we carry stateside dairy items, fresh herbs, dry groceries, nuts, snacks, drinks, ice cream, freshly made deli sandwiches, USDA Prime meats, fresh fish and shellfish, and a large selection of organic produce, dairy, grocery, and meats. A New Salad Bar has been added for your convenience.  Whatever YOU want, we can get it for you.  Our main business is supplying the local retail trade, however we have been provisioning private yachts for many years and pride ourselves on great products, great prices, and great service.

 Company History

 

Marty Goldberg opened The Fruit Bowl in 1975 after spending two years working in a related busines.  Originally from New York, he moved to St Thomas with his wife and two small children in 1973.  He has a BA and an MBA and is still active in the business.

 

After receiving his BA and moving to the Virgin Islands from Kentucky, James Clark worked in a local food store, joined the company in 1982, and is now the general manager of The Fruit Bowl.

 

Marty's son, David Goldberg "grew up" in the business.  He worked for three years in the food service industry in Florida and Alabama after earning his BS. He has been with the company since 1999 and shares managerial responsibility with James.

 

The management and staff strive to import the finest products and deliver them with the best service posible.  The Fruit Bowl is still a favorite of local shoppers who have supported the business for more than 30 years.
